UNU Jogja's JONED Achieves SINTA 3 Accreditation, Strengthens Path Toward International Recognition

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Journal of Nusantara Education (JONED), an academic journal published by the Faculty of Education of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), has officially achieved SINTA 3 accreditation under the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Science, and Technology No. 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026 concerning the New Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for Period III of 2025.

Through this reaccreditation, JONED successfully improved its ranking from SINTA 5 to SINTA 3. The accreditation is valid from Volume 5, Issue 1 (2025) through Volume 9, Issue 2 (2029), recognizing the journal's continuous improvement in editorial management and publication quality.

As a scholarly journal published by the Faculty of Education at UNU Jogja, JONED publishes original research articles and literature reviews covering a wide range of educational fields, including educational science, language education, early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, and higher education.

In addition to its SINTA accreditation, JONED has been indexed in numerous academic databases, including Google Scholar, Crossref, Garuda, Dimensions, OneSearch, BASE, ROAD, Moraref, Neliti, JournalStories, and Index Copernicus. These indexations enhance the journal's accessibility and increase the visibility of its publications among researchers both nationally and internationally.

The improvement in accreditation reflects the editorial team's commitment to strengthening journal governance in accordance with international publishing standards. Continuous efforts have been made to refine the double-blind peer review process, improve the author guidelines, and ensure the quality of published manuscripts.

Adhan Kholis, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nusantara Education (JONED), stated that the achievement was the result of collective efforts by everyone involved in the journal's management, including editors, reviewers, authors, as well as the support of the Faculty of Education and UNU Jogja.

"Alhamdulillah, achieving SINTA 3 accreditation is the result of the collective work of our editorial team, reviewers, editors, authors, and the strong support of the Faculty of Education and UNU Jogja. We are deeply grateful, and we see this achievement as motivation to continuously improve our journal governance, strengthen the editorial and peer-review processes, expand collaboration with authors and reviewers from Indonesia and abroad, and further enhance the quality of the articles we publish," said Adhan on Monday, August 3.

He added that the accreditation marks not the end of the journey but an important milestone toward greater achievements. Before the current accreditation period expires in 2029, JONED aims to advance to SINTA 2 and eventually SINTA 1, while also gaining inclusion in internationally recognized indexing databases such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scopus, and the Web of Science (WoS).

"We hope JONED will make a broader contribution to the advancement of knowledge while enhancing the national and international reputation of UNU Jogja," he added.

To achieve these goals, JONED has prepared several strategic initiatives, including strengthening its editorial system according to international standards, increasing the proportion of English-language articles, expanding its international network of authors and reviewers, improving citation quality, and continuously enhancing publication governance.

The achievement of SINTA 3 accreditation is expected to inspire the academic community at UNU Jogja to further cultivate a strong research and publication culture.
