Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Electrical Engineering Department of UNU Jogja has established a collaboration with Bank BTPN Syariah through the 2026 Capstone Project course. The program focuses on developing sustainable appropriate technology for MSME partners supported by the bank.
In this program, sixth-semester students are assigned to design and develop technology-based solutions that address real needs in the field, particularly to support the business activities of MSME partners.
Head of the Electrical Engineering Department of UNU Jogja, Zulkhairi, stated that the collaboration aims to produce technological solutions in the form of smart devices tailored to the specific needs of each partner.
“These devices are designed to support production processes while improving efficiency and increasing business income potential,” he said.
He added that the program represents the implementation of practice-based learning integrated with industry and community needs.
“Through this Capstone Project, students are encouraged to deliver applicable and appropriate technological solutions. This program not only enhances students’ competencies but also provides direct impact to MSME partners,” he added.
In its implementation, a total of 13 partners will be assisted by students through technology introduction and implementation education activities. These partners come from various sectors, including service providers, food and beverage businesses, and other micro-enterprises with strong potential for development through technology adoption.
Zulkhairi expressed hope that the program will serve as a sustainable initial step in creating technology-based innovations that directly benefit society. “In addition, this collaboration strengthens the role of higher education institutions in supporting MSME empowerment through practical and relevant solutions,” he concluded.
