Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Halal Product Process Assistance Institution (LP3H) of Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Jogja actively participated in the Jogja Halal Market 2025, held at the Courtyard of the Governor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Sunday, October 26. The event was organized by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) of Indonesia as part of a national initiative to expand halal certification among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
During the event, LP3H UNU Jogja operated a dedicated Halal Assistance Booth that provided free halal certification registration services for MSME entrepreneurs across Yogyakarta. The assistance covered the registration process, document consultation, and preliminary verification of materials and production processes in accordance with BPJPH’s halal standards.
Director of LP3H UNU Jogja, Listiana Hidayati, stated that the university’s participation reflects its strong commitment to supporting the national halal ecosystem. “This is a great opportunity for MSMEs to obtain halal certification for their products. With this certification, their products gain added value and greater consumer trust,” said Listiana.
She further emphasized that UNU Jogja is committed to becoming a strategic partner of the government in overseeing the halal certification process, especially for new business owners. According to her, collaboration among universities, the government, and entrepreneurs is essential to strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s halal products both domestically and internationally.
UNU Jogja students were also actively involved in providing hands-on assistance to participants. They helped fill out registration forms, upload data to the SI HALAL system, and explain the necessary steps to ensure BPJPH approval. This engagement not only offered practical learning experiences but also embodied the university’s dedication to community service.
In addition to assisting MSMEs, UNU Jogja students also showcased their own innovative product creations, many of which had previously been selected for the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) 2025 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). Featured products included Ngunjuk Degan Kalegan, Golden Egg: Fresh Duck Eggs from Quality Farmers, Emping Melinjo Sehat Non-Purin, and various local snacks and herbal drinks—all of which had undergone the halal assistance process at UNU Jogja.
Through this event, UNU Jogja hopes to inspire more MSME entrepreneurs to pursue halal certification, thereby contributing to Yogyakarta’s vision of becoming a globally competitive halal economic hub. [Latifah]
