Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Library of Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Jogja has successfully completed the accreditation assessment process in accordance with the National Library Standards on Wednesday, October 15. The evaluation was carried out by assessors from the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas), namely Jus’aini, S.Pd., M.Hum. as Assessor 2; Dra. Khusnul Khotimah, S.S., M.IP. as Assessor 1; and accompanied by Saskia Lupita, A.Md.
This accreditation marks an important milestone for UNU Jogja in ensuring the quality of its library services and governance in alignment with national standards.
Acting Rector of UNU Jogja, Suhadi, stated that this is the first library accreditation process since UNU Jogja was established in 2017.
“This accreditation is a challenge for us to provide high-quality academic support services. UNU Jogja is relatively new compared to other universities, but we believe our library team has worked optimally to deliver the best outcome,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jus’aini commended UNU Jogja’s courage to take on the accreditation process despite being a young institution.
“We truly appreciate the initiative of UNU Jogja Library for taking this step. In fact, we have seen older universities withdraw during the accreditation process, but UNU Jogja has shown remarkable commitment,” she remarked.
She also added that based on the preliminary assessment of the submitted documents, the UNU Jogja Library scored 92 points, indicating strong potential to achieve an A rating.
“The score of 92 provides a solid foundation for achieving an A rating, though it is still subject to the plenary review,” she explained.
Similarly, Khusnul Khotimah emphasized the importance of library accreditation as part of efforts to enhance the quality of education at UNU Jogja.
“We all realize that the library is the heart of education. An accredited library reflects the institution’s commitment to providing the best services for literacy and knowledge development,” she said.
Head of the UNU Jogja Library, Abdulloh Badruzzaman, expressed optimism that the library can achieve its target.
“Our goal is to achieve the highest possible rating—an A accreditation with a minimum score of 91. Therefore, full support from the leadership, directorates, and all members of the academic community is crucial,” he noted.
With thorough preparation, strong teamwork, and a shared commitment to quality improvement, UNU Jogja Library is confident in achieving the best possible outcome. This milestone is expected to strengthen the library’s role as a center of literacy and knowledge within the university community. [Latifah]
