UNU Jogja and Recoolit Promote Collaboration on Tourism Decarbonization with Yogyakarta Chamber of Commerce

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Decarbonomics Center UNU Jogja, in collaboration with climate technology company PT Recoolit Bumi Lestari Indonesia (Recoolit), is exploring a partnership with the Yogyakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin DIY) to advance decarbonization initiatives in the region's tourism sector.

The initiative was discussed during an official meeting at the Kadin DIY office on Friday, July 3. Representatives from UNU Jogja and Recoolit met with Kadin DIY officials to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting a green economy in the tourism industry.

Director of the Decarbonomics Center at UNU Jogja, Tri Susdinarjanti, said the collaboration with Kadin DIY represents a strategic step toward expanding decarbonization efforts through stronger partnerships among universities, businesses, and technology providers.

"The tourism sector has significant potential to contribute to the decarbonization agenda. Through collaboration with Kadin DIY and Recoolit, we aim to develop initiatives that not only help reduce carbon emissions but also strengthen the competitiveness of sustainable tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. We hope this partnership will serve as a model for collaboration between academia, industry, and technology partners in supporting the transition toward a green economy," Tri said.

The UNU Jogja delegation was accompanied by M. Syamsiro, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology. The delegation was received by Robby Kusumaharta, Vice Chairman Coordinator I of Kadin DIY, Rahadi Saptata Abra, Vice Chairman for Energy and Green Economy, along with other members of the chamber's executive board.

During the meeting, the participants discussed potential collaborative programs to accelerate the implementation of decarbonization in the tourism sector. As a climate technology company, Recoolit is expected to contribute its expertise in supporting carbon emission reduction initiatives through collaboration with academia and the business community.

As a follow-up to the meeting, UNU Jogja and Kadin DIY plan to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) as the foundation for future collaborative programs. [Latifah]
