UNU Jogja Socializes RIP, Strategic Plan, and Operational Plan Toward Becoming a Globally Competitive University

Yogyakarta, Indonesia - Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), through its 2022–2034 Master Development Plan (RIP), aims to become an excellent and globally competitive university in the development of science and technology based on Aswaja An Nahdliyah values for the benefit of society by 2045.

The statement was delivered by UNU Jogja Executive Secretary Suharti during a socialization session on the university's Master Development Plan (RIP), Strategic Plan (Renstra), and Operational Plan (Renop), attended by members of the academic community on Thursday (September 10).

In her presentation, Suharti explained that the Strategic Plan and Operational Plan serve as guidelines for carrying out the university's duties and functions in supporting national development.

She stated that during this period, UNU Jogja has four main mandates: the Islamic mission mandate, social mandate, academic mandate, and professional mandate. “These mandates serve as the foundation for the academic community's work throughout the 2022–2034 period,” she said.

She further explained that the Islamic mission mandate serves as the primary mandate underlying all activities and development orientations of the university. It provides the ideological foundation and core values guiding all of UNU Jogja's activities.

“Through this mandate, UNU Jogja affirms its position as one of the driving forces of Nahdlatul Ulama in spreading the teachings of Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin through the implementation of the three pillars of higher education,” she said.

Meanwhile, the social mandate is directed toward creating benefits for society at large and the NU community in particular. Under this mandate, UNU Jogja will optimize its role in making tangible contributions to addressing social issues through transformative, knowledge-based approaches oriented toward public benefit.

Furthermore, the academic mandate reflects UNU Jogja's responsibility to contribute high-quality, relevant, and impactful scholarly work to the advancement of knowledge and the resolution of various societal challenges.

The professional mandate serves as the foundation for UNU Jogja to develop outstanding professionals in various strategic fields at both the national and global levels.

In line with these mandates, UNU Jogja has established strategic directions to achieve the vision and mission outlined in the RIP through five main agendas: Go Innovative, Go Digital, Go Collab, Go Professional, and Go Global.

Through Go Innovative, the UNU Jogja academic community is encouraged to think creatively, unconventionally, and out of the box as a foundation for creating breakthroughs, smart shortcuts, and a growth mindset while fostering an innovative environment.

Meanwhile, Go Digital encourages the institution to transform into a university with advanced digital capabilities, enabling rapid, efficient, effective, flexible, and dynamic governance in line with the characteristics of modern technology.

Go Collab promotes the development of aggressive strategic collaborations with various stakeholders to create mutual benefits through the exchange of missions, ideas, perspectives, knowledge, and resources.

Go Professional adopts the principles of Good University Governance across all institutional activities to strengthen accountability, transparency, quality assurance, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Go Global encourages the entire academic community to strengthen institutional competitiveness and human resource quality, including students, lecturers, and education staff, through academic exchanges, research collaborations, international internships, conferences, and other global networks.

“Through these five strategic directions, campus development will not only strengthen internal capacity but also enhance UNU Jogja's contribution at the national and global levels,” she explained.

Suharti expressed hope that the socialization of the RIP, Strategic Plan, and Operational Plan would provide all members of the academic community with a shared understanding of UNU Jogja's development direction, enabling each unit to implement its work programs in alignment with the university's targets, vision, and mission.
