Yogyakarta, Indonesia — Nahdlatul Ulama University Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, held the International Seminar on Sustainable Leadership: Balancing Ethics, Finance, and Social Impact at The Forum, UNU Jogja Campus, on Wednesday, Sept 24. The event brought together young academics and practitioners from Malaysia as well as UNU Jogja lecturers to discuss sustainable leadership from the perspectives of ethics, finance, and social impact.
Vice Rector for Islamic Boarding Education and Social Transformation, Dr. Abdul Ghoffar, emphasized that as a young university under the auspices of Nahdlatul Ulama, UNU Jogja continues to pursue accelerated strategies to realize its vision as the leading professional hub that produces excellent, adaptive, and globally competitive graduates.
“One of these strategies is expanding international collaboration. We hope that this visit and the MoU with UiTM will give birth to concrete initiatives that have a real impact, both for UNU Jogja’s development and for Indonesia’s contribution on the global stage,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Student Leadership Unit UiTM Perak Branch, Mohd Shahril bin Abd Rashid, underscored the importance of cross-country collaboration in student development.
“Through the exchange of ideas at the international level, we hope UiTM students will not only broaden their knowledge and competencies but also strengthen networks and develop strategic collaborations that benefit both institutions,” he said.
The seminar featured several speakers, including Mohamad Aiman Syakirin Bin Nazlim and Moh. Kamarul Iman Bin Mohd Kamarul Zaman (UiTM Malaysia), Mohamad Azurin Fikri bin Mohd Azzlan (Founder & Chairman of Belia Prihatin Perak), and Dr. (Cand.) Irfan Gaffar Adnan (Accounting Lecturer, UNU Jogja). The session was moderated by Dr. Fahmaninda Listiyani from the Faculty of Economics, UNU Jogja.
In addition to the seminar, the UiTM delegation’s visit also included an agenda for idea exchange and MoU signing. The delegation consisted of 12 students and staff, including representatives of Belia Prihatin Perak, Student Leadership Unit, Student Parliament Secretariat, and the Debate Club of UiTM Perak Branch.
This program marks a concrete step in strengthening UNU Jogja’s international network while providing cross-cultural experiences for students of both institutions. [Latifah]
