UNU Jogja Management Students Organize BOOMFEST 2025, Strengthening Creative Entrepreneurship Mindset

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Management Student Association of the Faculty of Economics, Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta, successfully held the 2025 BOOMFEST (Booming on Festival Management) under the theme “Edupreneurshow: Education, Entrepreneur, and Show” at the Main Hall, 5th Floor of UNU Yogyakarta, on Monday, July 28.

This annual event serves as a platform for students to enhance their entrepreneurial, creative, and leadership skills while raising awareness about environmental sustainability. Combining elements of education, entrepreneurship, and entertainment, BOOMFEST featured business idea exhibitions, insightful seminars, and art performances that showcased the creativity of the younger generation.

Running from morning until evening, the festival included various activities such as seminars, talk shows, business idea exhibitions, creative showcases, and artistic performances. One of the highlights was the seminar “What is Bitcoin and Why Does It Matter?” presented by the Bitcoin DIY Community, which discussed blockchain technology and the future potential of digital finance.

Another notable session was the talk show “The Role of Students in Turtle Conservation: Building Environmental Awareness for a Sustainable Ocean” featuring Daru Aji Saputro, Head of the Yogyakarta Conservation Action Foundation. The session encouraged students to take an active role in protecting Indonesia’s marine ecosystems and conserving endangered turtle species.

Students also showcased their business projects as tangible outputs of their final semester assignments, reflecting practical and impactful applications of classroom learning. An open stage was provided for students to express their artistic talents and creativity.

Committee Chair Muhammad Farits Nauval emphasized that BOOMFEST is a space for students to go beyond academics. “BOOMFEST is a stage to build networks, learn from experts, and foster environmentally conscious and digitally adaptive entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.

Similarly, Head of the Management Study Program, Suhada, expressed full appreciation for the students’ creativity. “BOOMFEST proves that management students don’t just learn theory — they create relevant and impactful innovations. Interestingly, the entire event was student-initiated, from concept to sponsorship, without university funding,” he explained.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Diah Retno Wulandaru, highlighted that BOOMFEST serves as a vital platform for students to hone entrepreneurial and soft skills essential for the professional world. “Through this event, students are trained in various aspects of event management, from planning to execution. They also develop communication, leadership, and teamwork skills that are crucial in the event management industry. BOOMFEST opens practical learning opportunities while expanding professional networks,” she said.

With its collaborative and innovative spirit, BOOMFEST 2025 stands as tangible proof that UNU Jogja students are capable of creating inspiring, relevant, and impactful events — not only in entrepreneurship but also in promoting environmental awareness.
