Agribusiness Expo 2026: UNU Jogja Students Gain Hands-on Experience from Product Development to Marketing

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Students of the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Halal Industry at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), demonstrated that entrepreneurship education extends far beyond the classroom. Through Agribusiness Expo 2026, held on the second floor of the UNU Yogyakarta campus on Monday, July 6, students put their knowledge into practice by experiencing the entire business process, from product development to marketing their products directly to the public.

Carrying the theme "From Roots to Market: Earth in Harmony, Creativity in Harvest," the expo served as a platform for students to apply the knowledge they have gained throughout their studies. The event featured a variety of innovative products based on local resources, ranging from processed food products to naturally sourced beverages. One of the highlights was the Entrepreneurship Booth of the Agribusiness Student Association (HIMAGRI), which showcased spinach chips and butterfly pea flower drinks as its signature products.

Head of the Agribusiness Study Program at UNU Jogja, Nur Sauda Al Arifa, explained that Agribusiness Expo is part of the program's experiential learning approach, designed to equip students with practical experience in entrepreneurship.

"Through this event, students learn that building a business goes beyond creating quality products. They also gain an understanding of the entire business process, including packaging, marketing strategies, and effective communication with customers. We aim to produce Agribusiness graduates who are innovative, capable of identifying market opportunities, and well-prepared to become entrepreneurs or competitive professionals," she said.

According to her, direct interaction with consumers plays a crucial role in the learning process. It allows students to receive valuable feedback on their products, better understand market preferences, and strengthen essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and decision-making in managing a business.

More than just a product exhibition, Agribusiness Expo 2026 provided students with an opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with real-world experience. This practical approach is expected to produce graduates who are adaptable to the evolving agribusiness industry while possessing the creativity and entrepreneurial mindset needed to generate value-added innovations for society.
