From Campus Laboratories to the National Pharmaceutical Industry, UNU Jogja Alumnus Now Builds Career at PT Combiphar

ALUMNI – Academic life at university often becomes an important foundation in shaping one’s future career path. This is reflected in the journey of Yuda Rahmat Putra, an alumnus of the Pharmacy Department at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta, who is now working as a Validation Officer at PT Combiphar. For him, university life was not merely about achieving high academic scores, but also about developing technical competencies applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.

Yuda completed his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with a GPA of 3.78/4.00 while actively participating in various academic and organizational activities. In addition to his involvement in student organizations, he also gained internship experience in several pharmaceutical institutions, ranging from pharmaceutical industries and hospitals to community pharmacies.

During his undergraduate years, Yuda participated in internship programs at several institutions that provided him with direct exposure to the pharmaceutical field. One of his internships was at PT Sanbe Farma in the Production Soft Gelatin Capsule Plant division. Through the program, he learned about production flow stages, production parameters, standard operating procedures, and documentation used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Beyond industrial experience, Yuda also gained healthcare service experience through an internship at RSKIA PKU Muhammadiyah Kotagede in the Pharmacy Department. There, he learned about drug supply planning, distribution of medicines and medical consumables, as well as prescription services.

Additional experience was obtained through his internship at PT Indah Medika Indonesia via Apotek Indah Farma Bantul, as well as his role as a Pharmacy Assistant at Apotek Rose Farma. These experiences helped him understand pharmaceutical inventory management, prescription services, and pharmacy operations directly in practice.

According to Yuda, internship experiences became an important bridge between classroom theory and real-world professional practice.

“Internships helped me understand how pharmaceutical industry standards and healthcare services are implemented directly. From there, I learned that precision and responsibility are extremely important,” he explained.

Throughout his Pharmacy studies, Yuda also explored subjects such as Physical Pharmacy, Microbiology, and Sterile Pharmaceutical Technology (FTS Sterile). His academic experience was further strengthened when he was entrusted to become a laboratory assistant for several important pharmaceutical practicums.

The theoretical and practical knowledge he gained is now directly applied in his current role as a Validation Officer at PT Combiphar. In this position, Yuda is responsible for preparing process validation and cleaning validation protocols to ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products manufactured by the company.

He also reviews microbiology reports to ensure the cleanliness of production equipment in accordance with modern pharmaceutical industry standards. This experience has made him realize how closely university knowledge aligns with industrial needs.

In addition to his academic achievements, Yuda was also active in student organizations and previously served as Chairman of the Pharmacy Student Association for the 2023/2024 period. The experience helped shape his leadership, communication, and management skills, which now support his professional role in the pharmaceutical industry.

For Yuda, success is not only about working at a major company, but also about how the knowledge gained during university can create meaningful contributions for society through safe and high-quality healthcare products.
