Dhany Dwi Saputra, UNU Jogja Student Wins 2nd Place in Pencak Silat Competition at Pomnas 2025

Solo, Indonesia – Dhany Dwi Saputra, a student of the Electrical Engineering Program at UNU Jogja, made a significant contribution to the Yogyakarta Special Region contingent at the 2025 National Student Sports Week (Pomnas) in Solo, Friday, September 26, 2025.

In this championship, Dhany secured 2nd place in the men’s under 45 kg class. “Alhamdulillah, I am grateful for this 2nd place achievement at Pomnas, and I would like to extend my deepest thanks to my parents, campus, lecturers, the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM), and all my friends who have supported and prayed for me,” said Dhany.

The Head of the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Zulkhairi, also expressed his appreciation. “Dhany’s achievement is clear proof that UNU Jogja students are not only excelling academically but are also capable of competing at the national level in sports. We are very proud and will continue to support our students’ potential in various fields,” he stated.

Appreciation likewise came from the Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM) of UNU Jogja. Its chairman, Dimas Ananta, emphasized that Dhany’s success would serve as motivation for other members to keep training and striving for excellence.

The Pencak Silat competition at Pomnas 2025 was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, on Tuesday, September 23. The closing ceremony was led by UMS Vice Rector I, Prof. Ihwan Susila, Ph.D., who remarked, “Congratulations to all the winners. Continue developing your potential to bring honor to the nation.”

According to the Head of Competitions at PB Pomnas 2025, Beni Thobir Ahmad Chusaini, this year’s Pencak Silat event was joined by 414 athletes from various universities, representing 36 provinces, with a total of 369 matches contested. [Latifah]
