Yogyakarta, Indonesia - The Faculty of Education (FIP) at UNU Jogja continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing research literacy among students. This was realized through a seminar titled “Research Today: From Methodological Trends to Reputable Publications”, held in The Forum room at the UNU Jogja campus, on Tuesday, June 17.
The event featured Moh. Archi Maulyda, a lecturer and researcher from the University of Mataram, as the speaker. Dozens of students and faculty members attended, enthusiastically following presentations on the dynamics of current research methodologies and strategies for publishing in reputable scholarly journals, both national and international.
In his talk, Archi emphasized the importance for students of understanding methodological trends relevant to advances in knowledge. He also shared practical strategies for designing applicable research topics, selecting appropriate methodological approaches, and preparing scholarly articles through to the submission process for academic journals.
“Research is not only about discovering something new, but also about voicing relevant and impactful ideas through scholarly publications,” he said.
The delivery, light yet substantive, successfully captured the participants’ attention. Students’ enthusiasm was evident in a dynamic Q&A session, indicating strong interest in strengthening research capacity within FIP.
FIP lecturer Hidar Amaruddin, who also served as moderator, stated that the event was specifically designed to address the needs of students at various levels of study.
“For the 2021 cohort, this seminar serves as important preparation for writing scholarly articles. For the 2022 cohort, it reinforces understanding and application of research methodology for proposal development. Meanwhile, for the 2023 cohort, it provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of research,” Hidar said.
One participant, Novita, expressed hope that similar events could be held regularly. “This seminar provided many new insights. We are now better prepared to structure and publish our research in a scholarly and impactful manner,” she said.
Through this event, FIP UNU Jogja underscores its strategic role in building a productive, quality-oriented academic climate. This effort aligns with UNU Jogja’s vision to produce graduates who are not only competent in education but also able to contribute actively to the advancement of knowledge through research and scholarly publications.
