UNU Jogja’s Faculty of Islamic Studies and Pusdeka Hold Second Batch of Bimwin Catin Facilitator Training

Yogyakarta, Indonesia - Following the successful implementation of the first batch of Technical Training (Bimtek) for Facilitators of Marriage Guidance for Prospective Brides and Grooms (Bimwin Catin), the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Dirasah Islamiyah) and the Center for Population Studies and Family Welfare (Pusdeka) at UNU Jogja have held the second batch from Friday to Sunday, September 11–13, 2026. 

The program, which aims to strengthen sakinah families, was supported by the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

A total of 49 participants took part in the program, representing diverse backgrounds and institutions. They included Islamic religious counselors, marriage registrars, religious figures, Islamic religious activists, lecturers, and education personnel from various regions.

Acting Rector of UNU Jogja, Dr. Fahmy Akbar Idries, said that the Bimwin program reflects the growing importance of providing prospective couples with preparation before entering family life. He noted that such premarital preparation facilities were not widely available in the past, while prospective couples today have greater opportunities to gain adequate knowledge and skills.

“When I got married, facilities for preparation like this were not widely available. Today, there is an opportunity to equip prospective couples with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare for family life. Therefore, through this program, UNU Jogja seeks to contribute to strengthening family resilience through education and community-based assistance,” he said.

In line with this commitment, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UNU Jogja, Hamdi Putra Ahmad, M.Phil., explained that the Bimwin Catin Facilitator Training was designed not only to provide an understanding of marriage guidance content but also to equip participants with the skills needed to facilitate the mentoring process for prospective couples.

According to him, the training scheme was structured in stages by combining theoretical sessions, facilitation practice, evaluation, and field experience. “Participants do not only receive the materials but are also encouraged to practice how to become facilitators. Therefore, the program is designed to run for three days with interconnected sessions, followed by microteaching, evaluation, and a field visit,” he explained.

Director of the Center for Population Studies and Family Welfare (Pusdeka) at UNU Jogja, Rindang Farihah, said the training is expected to create a broader impact through participants who will later serve as facilitators in their respective regions.

“After participating in this program, we hope the participants can become professional facilitators who can share their knowledge and experience in their respective regions,” Rindang said.

On the first day of training, participants received several sessions, including Building Learning Commitment delivered by Dr. Fatimah Amilia, M.Si.; Perspectives on Justice and Reciprocity with Khotimatul Husna, S.Ag., M.H.; and Perspectives on Building Family Resilience through the Sakinah Family Development Program (BKS) and Facilitation Techniques delivered by Sugeng Widodo, S.Psi.

On the second day, participants attended sessions on the Philosophy of Bimwin led by Rindang Farihah, S.Ag., M.A.; Family Psychology and Meeting Family Needs with Nurmey Nurulchaq, S.Psi., M.A.; and Maintaining Reproductive Health and Building a Maslahah Family with Dr. Wiwin Siti Aminah Rohmawati, S.Ag., M.Ag. Participants also received a session on the Policy Direction of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered by H. Jaja Zarkasyi, M.A.

On the third day, participants attended a session on Creating a Quality Generation delivered by Khotimatul Husna, S.Ag., M.H. The program continued with microteaching, evaluation, and a field visit to Rifka Annisa.

Through the training series, participants gained not only a conceptual understanding of Bimwin and sakinah family development but also practical facilitation skills that can be applied in mentoring prospective couples in their respective regions.
