Yogyakarta, Indonesia - Mohammad Fattachul ’Alim, an Informatics student at UNU Jogja, represented his campus at Coinfest Asia 2025, the world’s largest crypto and Web3 festival, held at Nuanu Creative City, Bali, on Thursday–Friday, August 21–22, 2025. The international event brought together more than 10,000 participants from 90 countries, including blockchain developers, industry leaders, regulators, and global communities.
Coinfest Asia has become a leading platform to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in blockchain and Web3 adoption. This year’s edition featured more than 300 international speakers, 100 main sessions, and 100 side events, covering topics such as DeFi, real-world asset tokenization, industry regulations, and the future of Web3 in Asia. One of the main highlights was Tokenize Indonesia, a program that connected traditional financial institutions such as BRI Ventures, Pegadaian, and MDI Ventures with blockchain players like Ripple, IOTA, and Fireblocks to initiate tokenization projects.
Beyond discussions, Coinfest Asia also offered interactive activities including Pintu’s live trading challenge, a chess tournament with Anichess, and developer-focused workshops. Bali’s cultural richness was also showcased through the Ogoh-Ogoh parade and the Kecak dance.
Fattachul actively joined panel discussions, explored real-world case studies, and engaged with Web3 practitioners from around the globe. He also explored opportunities for collaboration and laid the groundwork to establish the UNU Blockchain Innovation Club, a Student Activity Unit at UNU Jogja that will serve as a hub for blockchain literacy and innovation on campus.
“Coinfest Asia felt like stepping into the future of technology. I didn’t just learn about blockchain—I connected with people, ideas, and opportunities that I hope can grow into something real at UNU Jogja,” said Fattachul.
The participation of UNU Jogja students in Coinfest Asia 2025 highlights the university’s expanding role in the global technology ecosystem. Through international forums, UNU Jogja continues to encourage its students to contribute to research, innovation, and community initiatives that position Yogyakarta as part of the global dialogue on the future of Web3.
