Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Primary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) organized a practitioner-led lecture within the Edupreneurship course as part of its effort to develop graduates who are competitive and adaptive in the digital era.
The course instructor, Sutiyono, explained that the course is designed to prepare students to become edupreneurs—entrepreneurs in the education sector who are capable of creating innovations and identifying business opportunities based on societal needs.
“Students are not only prepared to become educators, but also to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that is relevant to today’s rapidly changing world,” he said.
The session featured digital business practitioner Wisnu Prawijaya, who shared firsthand experience in managing various ventures, including Golden Tin, Berki Group, and marketing support initiatives at Sekolah Orang Tua. Through this session, students gained practical insights into the challenges, strategies, and opportunities involved in building a business in the digital landscape.
In his presentation, Wisnu covered key topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, effective business strategies, market positioning in the digital era, and the development of a Business Model Canvas as an initial step in designing a business.
“This learning experience is expected to broaden students’ perspectives, showing that PGSD graduates are not limited to becoming teachers but can also build independent businesses in the education sector,” Sutiyono added.
In line with this, Taufan Jannata, who also serves as a lecturer for the course, stated that the practitioner lecture is conducted over a one-month period as an intensive training program.
“This initiative is crucial to strengthen students’ mindset, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and begin realizing their business ideas, while also fostering an entrepreneurial spirit to face the increasingly dynamic job market,” he explained.
He further expressed hope that the program will produce future primary school teachers who are not only competent in education but also creative, innovative, and economically independent. [Latifah]
