Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies (SII) Program at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) has achieved a “Very Good” accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) following a comprehensive on-site assessment.
The evaluation was conducted by assessors Prof. Dr. Abdul Rohman, M.Ag., and Prof. Dr. Miftah Arifin, M.Ag. Based on Decree No. 454/SK/BAN-PT/Ak/S/III/2026, the SII Program successfully improved its accreditation status from “Good” (Decree No. 6159/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/S/IX/2022) to “Very Good.”
According to the decision issued by the Executive Board Director of BAN-PT, Prof. Ari Purbayanto, Ph.D., the accreditation has been effective since March 17, 2026.
The “Very Good” accreditation reflects a strong level of academic quality and institutional governance within the program.
Head of the SII Program, Nuzulia Hidayati, expressed her appreciation for the achievement, highlighting it as the result of continuous quality improvement efforts over the past several years.
“Over the past five years, we have implemented various innovations to enhance the quality of education as part of our journey toward achieving ‘Excellent’ accreditation,” she stated.
The SII Program at UNU Jogja adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating Islamic studies with contemporary issues. It has developed various initiatives, ranging from national collaborations to international partnerships.
In addition, students and alumni of the program have demonstrated strong competitiveness at both national and global levels. Some have continued their studies abroad, including in China, and have participated in international events such as the International Olympiad in Russia.
“With this achievement, we expect our graduates to have stronger competitiveness in both academic and professional fields,” Nuzulia added.
Looking ahead, the SII Program aims to further elevate its accreditation to the “Excellent” level by strengthening academic quality, advancing research, and expanding international collaborations. [Latifah]
