UNU Jogja Students and Alumni Attend Coinfest Asia 2026, Joining Techies from 90 Countries to Shape the Future of Global Technology and Digital Industry

Bali, Indonesia - Four members of the UNU Jogja community had the opportunity to attend Coinfest Asia 2026, an international event bringing together crypto and blockchain technology enthusiasts from around the world. The event was held at Melasti Beach, South Kuta, Badung, Bali, on August 20–21, 2026, and attracted around 10,000 participants from approximately 90 countries.

At the festival, technology enthusiasts and delegates from various global technology institutions, particularly those involved in the blockchain ecosystem, gathered to discuss the latest developments in Web3 and crypto technology. Starting as a crypto community gathering in 2019, Coinfest Asia has grown into one of the key forums shaping the direction of the digital industry in Asia and around the world.

The four members of the UNU Jogja academic community participating in this forum are two Informatics study program students who are also active in the UNU Blockchain Club (UBIC), Mohammad Fattachul 'Alim and M. Ilham Adiansyah, along with Management study program alumnus Nadja Ilyasa and Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies study program alumna Yuliyani Ekawati.

Fattachul said the event was relevant as a platform for connecting knowledge gained in the academic environment with developments in technology and industry firsthand.

In addition to gaining new insights, the event also provided opportunities to build networks with Web3 communities and industry players, while serving as an inspiration for developing blockchain-related activities and ecosystems at UNU Jogja.

“Although Coinfest is a crypto festival, of course, we didn’t come just to have fun. We also took advantage of the opportunity to network, explore potential partnerships, and open up possibilities for collaboration with UNU Jogja,” he said.

Moreover, the global forum was not Fattachul’s first such experience. “For us, Coinfest Asia is something of a reunion. Here, we can meet old friends again who are also involved in blockchain and Web3 technology,” added the Founder & President of UBIC.

This year’s Coinfest Asia featured a range of programs centered around three main focuses. The first was the Institutional Summit, which explored the development and adoption of digital assets at the institutional level, including regulatory developments, stablecoins, tokenization, and the digital financial ecosystem.

Meanwhile, discussions with Builders—technology developers—focused on blockchain, AI, startups, and the development of Web3 products and ecosystems. The forum for Traders and business players, meanwhile, explored the dynamics of digital asset markets, trading, strategies, market insights, and trader community activities.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu, as well as leaders and delegates from a number of institutions and companies, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the National Economic Council (DEN), and Indodax. Executives from the global digital industry also took part, including representatives from Nansen, MEXC Ventures, APAC, Singapore BitGo, Binance, and Input Output.

The four UNU Jogja community members were able to attend Coinfest Asia 2026 with support from the FLOQ Community Bus. The program brought together members of the Web3 and crypto communities from Yogyakarta to attend Coinfest Asia free of charge. Beyond facilitating access to the event, the FLOQ Community Bus also served as a space for participants to interact and build networks with fellow Web3 community members.

For the UNU Jogja community, participation in Coinfest Asia 2026 was an exciting opportunity to broaden their understanding of developments in digital technology. The event is expected to contribute to the advancement of campus digitalization in various aspects. This is particularly relevant given that the UNU Jogja participants came from different academic backgrounds, including informatics, economics, and Islamic studies.

“Taking part in this event gave us an opportunity to gain firsthand experience of developments in blockchain and Web3 technology, while also seeing how these technologies are evolving through industry ecosystems, communities, developers, and business players,” concluded Nadja Ilyasa, who paid particular attention to the economic and business aspects of digital technology during the forum.*
