UNU Jogja Management Student Wins Third Place at Yogyakarta Championship 7 Pencak Silat Tournament

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Zahrotus Sita Intan Syadewi, a Management student from the Faculty of Economics at Nahdlatul Ulama University Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), secured Third Place in the Adult Sparring Class A category at the Yogyakarta Championship 7, a pencak silat tournament competing for the Yogyakarta Mayor's Cup.

The championship brought together athletes from various regions and age groups, providing a platform to measure their abilities and develop achievements in the martial art of pencak silat. Sita's accomplishment marks another proud non-academic achievement for the Management Study Program.

Sita earned the award after undergoing intensive preparation through regular physical, technical, and mental training. According to her, consistency was the key to performing at her best throughout the competition.

"I prepared myself by training regularly, including physical, technical, and mental exercises. Of course, there were times when I felt exhausted, but I remained consistent because I wanted to prove that sincere effort and dedication would eventually lead to success," she said, Wednesday, July 22.

She explained that every journey toward achievement comes with its own challenges. However, hard work, discipline, and commitment have become the foundation for her continuous growth and pursuit of excellence.

Sita hopes her achievement will encourage other students to develop their potential. She believes everyone has the opportunity to succeed as long as they are willing to embrace the process and persevere.

"Never be afraid to try and develop your potential. Every journey comes with challenges, but through hard work, discipline, and prayer, the best results will come in time. Keep striving for excellence, and never fear failure, because every failure is a step toward success," she said.

Sita also acknowledged the support she has received from the university in pursuing her interests and talents. She believes that the appreciation given to high-achieving students, along with opportunities to participate in competitions, has motivated her to continue improving.

"The university's support is evident through the recognition given to outstanding students and the opportunities provided to participate in various competitions," she added.

Head of the Management Study Program at UNU Jogja, Novi Diah Wulandari, expressed her appreciation for Sita's achievement. She stated that the accomplishment reflects the hard work and determination Sita demonstrated throughout her training and competition. She added that participating in competitions is an important part of the learning process, helping students develop discipline, leadership, decision-making skills, and resilience.

Novi explained that the Management Study Program, together with UNU Jogja, continuously encourages students to develop their potential in both academic and non-academic fields. Students are encouraged to actively participate in student activities and competitions as opportunities to sharpen their abilities and gain valuable experience.

She added that the university provides a wide range of Student Activity Units (UKM), including the Pencak Silat Student Club, as platforms for students to train, develop their interests and talents, and participate in various competitions.

"We highly appreciate Sita's achievement, which has brought pride to the Management Study Program and UNU Jogja. We remain committed to providing students with opportunities to grow through student activities and competitions.
