Sleman Regency Kiai Mujahadah Held at UNU Jogja, Rector Encourages the Public to Explore Academic Programs and Scholarship Opportunities

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) hosted the Sleman Regency Kiai Mujahadah at the Raden Mas Djatmika Mosque on the fifth floor of the UNU Jogja campus on Sunday, July 26. The event brought together kiai (Islamic scholars), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) administrators, community leaders, and worshippers from across Sleman Regency.

The solemn gathering served as a platform to strengthen fellowship and deepen the spiritual values of the Nahdlatul Ulama community. In addition to collective prayers, the event also highlighted the role of NU higher education institutions in developing competent, ethical, and well-rounded human resources.

In his remarks, Acting Rector of UNU Jogja, Dr. Fahmy Akbar Idries, expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in the university as the host of the Sleman Regency Kiai Mujahadah. According to him, religious gatherings such as this play an important role in strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions, Islamic scholars, and the wider community.

Dr. Fahmy explained that UNU Jogja is committed to providing higher education that emphasizes not only academic excellence but also character development, moral integrity, and the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah An-Nahdliyah. Through its various academic programs, the university continues to prepare graduates who are adaptive to the changing world while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values.

During the event, Dr. Fahmy introduced UNU Jogja's academic programs for the 2026/2027 Academic Year as higher education options for graduates of senior high schools, vocational high schools, and Islamic senior high schools. He encouraged kiai and community members to motivate young people to pursue higher education at Nahdlatul Ulama's university.

"UNU Jogja continues to provide broad opportunities for young people to pursue quality higher education that is globally competitive while remaining firmly rooted in NU values," he said.

Dr. Fahmy also introduced the university's scholarship schemes, emphasizing that financial limitations should never become a barrier for young people seeking access to higher education.

Among the scholarship opportunities available are the Indonesia Smart Card for Higher Education (KIP Kuliah), the Talenta Lestari Scholarship (BTL), which supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as various other scholarship programs offered through partnerships with government agencies and institutional partners. Merit-based scholarships are also available for outstanding students in accordance with the university's policies.

Dr. Fahmy expressed hope that information about UNU Jogja's academic programs and scholarship opportunities would be shared more widely so that more high school graduates could continue their studies at the university.

He also called on all members of Nahdlatul Ulama to work together in developing high-quality human resources through education. According to him, collaboration among Islamic scholars, the community, and higher education institutions forms a strong foundation for nurturing knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible future generations.

The Sleman Regency Kiai Mujahadah concluded with a collective prayer led by senior masyayikh (Islamic scholars), seeking blessings, safety, and progress for the Muslim community, the nation, and Nahdlatul Ulama educational institutions, including UNU Jogja.
