PBI Students and Alumni of UNU Jogja Build Orphanage Children’s Confidence Through English

Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The English Language Education Study Program (PBI) together with the Student Association of the English Language Education Study Program (HMPS PBI) at UNU Jogja held a PBI Mengabdi (PBI Serving the Community) program on Sunday, September 14, at Bumi Indah Damai Orphanage Foundation, Banguntapan, Bantul.

The event was particularly meaningful as it involved the contribution of an alumna. Rahma, a 2020 graduate of PBI UNU Jogja and currently the Chairperson of the Bumi Indah Damai Foundation, provided space for students to carry out community service activities at the orphanage she manages.

Rahma expressed her appreciation for the students’ initiative. According to her, the program not only introduced English learning in an enjoyable way but also helped the children at the orphanage build confidence in communication.
“I am proud to see the younger students continuing the tradition of service. This program proves that the knowledge gained on campus can be brought back to benefit society,” she said.

Head of the English Language Education Study Program, Khusnul Harsul Lisan, S.Pd., M.Hum., added that the program serves as a platform for students to sharpen their soft skills and hard skills, while also strengthening collaboration with alumni. “The presence of alumni such as Ms. Rahma is very important, as it provides a real inspiration for students to contribute after graduation,” he noted.
