PGSD UNU Jogja Student Wins 2nd Place at International Karate Championship

Yogyakarta, Indonesia - Nada Rohadatul Aisya, a student of the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Program at UNU Jogja, class of 2022, won 2nd place in the Women’s Individual Kata category at the International Karate Championship – Kemenpora Cup Yogyakarta Open Tournament V 2025, held at GOR Amongraga Yogyakarta from Friday to Sunday, August 29–31, 2025.
The international karate tournament brought together more than 4,500 athletes from 18 provinces across Indonesia as well as participants from abroad, including India. The competition featured two main categories, Kata and Kumite, with divisions based on age, ranging from early childhood to senior.
The Head of the Organizing Committee, Suparmadi, explained that the championship was open to athletes representing schools, dojos, clubs, or associations, both from within Indonesia and overseas. “The Yogyakarta Open Tournament V 2025 was deliberately held in August to coincide with Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations, so that the spirit of struggle and perseverance of our national heroes can be inherited through sports,” he stated.
Expressing her gratitude, Nada said the achievement was the result of her dedication and commitment to training. “This achievement is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and fighting spirit. I hope this accomplishment can inspire other students to keep striving for excellence,” Nada remarked.
During the competition, Nada delivered a consistent performance. She competed in the festival class and eventually secured 2nd place.
Hidar Amaruddin S.Pd., M.Pd, a PGSD lecturer at UNU Jogja, also praised her accomplishment. “We are very proud of Nada’s achievement. Hopefully, this success will motivate other students to confidently compete at both national and international levels,” he said. [Latifah]
