Yogyakarta, Indonesia – As the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H/2026 M begins, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) launches a spiritual initiative titled KAMANDANU (Ramadan Studies at UNU Campus). The program reflects the university’s commitment to enlivening Ramadan through worship, scholarly reflection, and strengthened togetherness among its academic community.
Carrying the theme “Spreading Inspiration in the Holy Month,” KAMANDANU features various activities involving lecturers, administrative staff, and students. The program begins with Tarawih prayers and Qur’an recitation at Masjid Raden Mas Djatmiko UNU Jogja, held from February 18 to March 10, 2026. This initiative serves as a space to foster spiritual growth and reinforce bonds of ukhuwah (brotherhood) within the campus environment.
In addition, the Civitas Mengaji program is conducted in separate sessions for male and female congregations. The sessions take place on February 20 and 27, and March 6 for male participants, and on February 25, March 4, and March 9 for female participants. Through these forums, participants are encouraged to deepen their understanding of the Qur’an and strengthen Islamic values in academic life.
On February 27, UNU Jogja also hosts a book discussion of “Tafakur Ramadhan” by Dr. Abdul Ghoffar, M.B.A., offering a reflective dialogue on the spiritual and social meanings of Ramadan. Meanwhile, on March 4, a Sign Language Qur’an Revision (Muroja’ah Al-Qur’an Isyarat) session is organized, demonstrating the university’s commitment to inclusive worship spaces.
The KAMANDANU series concludes with the 9th Anniversary Commemoration of UNU Yogyakarta and a Khotmil Qur’an prayer on March 10, 2026. This milestone reaffirms the university’s journey in integrating academic excellence with strong spiritual values.
Beyond offline activities, the Ramadan spirit is also shared digitally through the KAMANDANU 2026 Virtual Sermon Series, available exclusively on the UNU Yogyakarta YouTube channel.
Through KAMANDANU 1447 H, UNU Jogja reaffirms its commitment to being a university that excels academically while nurturing character and spirituality. Ramadan becomes a collective space to spread inspiration, strengthen compassion, and cultivate blessings in every step of the academic community. [Latifah]
