Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The professionalism and expertise of librarians at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) have once again been recognized. Three librarians from UNU Jogja have been appointed to leadership positions in professional library organizations at both the regional and national levels during June and July 2026.
The three librarians are Nur Istiana, who was inaugurated as a board member of the Yogyakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Forum of Academic Libraries (FPPTI) on Wednesday, July 8; Silvia Dwi Riyanti, who was appointed to the Central Board of the Association of Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Libraries (APPTNU) on June 17, 2026; and Tia Dyan Wilujeng, who officially joined the Yogyakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Librarians Association (IPI) on June 24, 2026.
These appointments reflect the growing contribution of UNU Jogja librarians to the advancement of library services and the library profession, both within higher education institutions and through professional associations. Their involvement is expected to strengthen professional networks, foster collaboration, and support the continuous improvement of library services at institutional and national levels.
Head of the UNU Jogja Library, Abdulloh Badruzzaman, expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the three librarians. He noted that the appointments demonstrate the capability of UNU Jogja's librarians to contribute beyond the university by actively participating in the development of the library profession in Indonesia.
"This trust is both an honor and a responsibility for our librarians. We hope that their involvement in professional organizations will provide opportunities to learn from peers, exchange best practices, and bring innovative ideas that can be implemented to further enhance library services at UNU Jogja," he said.
He further emphasized that professional organizations play a strategic role in enhancing librarians' competencies, expanding institutional partnerships, and strengthening collaboration among libraries.
"We remain committed to encouraging our librarians to actively engage in professional organizations. The knowledge, experience, and networks they gain will contribute significantly to improving the quality of our library services while supporting the transformation of the library into a hub for learning, research, and innovation," he added.
The appointment of these three librarians further reinforces UNU Jogja's commitment to developing professional and adaptive human resources in the field of librarianship. Through active participation in regional and national professional organizations, the university library is expected to continue delivering innovative services that support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
