Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Hadroh Team of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) secured Second Place in the Musabaqah Hadrah Banjar “Al-Hasyimi” competition at the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java level on Friday (30/1).
The competition was organized by PPM Al-Hadi Yogyakarta to commemorate the fifth akhirussanah of PPM Al-Hadi and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama. The event served as a platform for hadrah art enthusiasts to showcase their best performances in delivering sholawat and qasidah.
During the competition, each team was required to perform the obligatory piece Mahalul Qiyam from Maulid Al-Hasyimi, along with a selected song. The UNU Jogja Hadroh Team chose the qasidah “Ya Abal Qosim” from Maulid Al-Hasyimi as their featured performance. Their cohesive stage presence, strong vocal harmonization, and dynamic hadroh percussion became key strengths that led them to earn second place.
“We chose the qasidah ‘Ya Abal Qosim’ from Maulid Al-Hasyimi for this competition because, besides being close to the songs we usually perform, it also has a distinctive character that we wanted to highlight,” said Abi, the team coordinator.
The UNU Jogja Hadroh Team brings together students from various study programs, united in vocal harmony and rhythmic percussion. The vocal section featured Akhyar Sabqi and Anwarudin from SII, Mohamad Faiz Chilmi from Accounting, Kemal Hidayatullah from Computer Engineering, and Muhamad Nurfahmi. The hadroh percussion was performed by Ahmad Ubaidillah Ali Saputra from Agribusiness, Syauqi Migumi M and Achmad Zaka Alwi Mubarok from Electrical Engineering, and Muhammad Rif’an Baroz from Informatics. The bass rhythm, played by Ahmad Shodiq Lutfi Abilawa from Pharmacy, strengthened the musical foundation, resulting in a lively, cohesive, and harmonious performance.
This achievement demonstrates that UNU Jogja students, as part of a private university in Yogyakarta, not only excel academically but are also active in preserving traditional Islamic arts such as hadrah. The cross-department collaboration within the team reflects a strong spirit of unity and a shared passion for spreading sholawat through art. [Latifah]
