UNU Jogja Campus Holds NEXUS MKDU, Initiating Creative Ideas Based on Nationalism and NU Values

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Jogja held NEXUS MKDU, a platform for cross-study program student collaboration to create innovative solutions based on national values, NU identity, and diversity, on Wednesday, July 30, at The Hall, 5th Floor, UNU Jogja Campus.

The “Student Innovation Collaboration Forum” allowed students from various disciplines to present ideas, showcase creative videos, and engage directly with judges. The event opened with prayers and the singing of Indonesia Raya, Mars Subbanul Wathan, and the UNU Jogja Hymn, highlighting the spirit of nationalism.

UNU Jogja’s Director of Academic Governance, Harisna Hikmah, praised active student participation. “Through NEXUS, students integrate academic knowledge with national and NU values. This shows classroom learning can be realized in meaningful projects,” he said, emphasizing that NEXUS MKDU is not just a semester-end assignment but a collaborative platform across programs to deliver innovative solutions for Indonesia.

Finalists from Management, Accounting, Informatics, Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Pharmacy, and Engineering programs presented contextual videos on tolerance, diversity, and NU practices in society, followed by idea presentations and Q&A with judges including Nurhadi (Director of Student Employability & Entrepreneurship), Vinia Rizqi Primawati (Director of Industry Collaboration), Rinanti Nur Hapsari (Senior Manager of Student Employability & Entrepreneurship), and Irhas Badruzaman (Director of Student Affairs).

The event also featured performances by UNU Jogja’s Music and Dance Student Activity Units. Winners were announced based on best idea, presentation, and innovation impact. NEXUS MKDU provided a productive space for students to combine creativity, communication skills, and teamwork to address social challenges through real-world projects.
