Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Laughter and excitement filled the air at English Playdate: A Holiday Adventure, held at the Integrated Campus of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama (UNU) Jogja on Wednesday, July 9. The event was organized by the Center for Language Training and International Services (CELTIS) in collaboration with the English Education Study Program (PBI) of UNU Jogja.
Designed as a fun, engaging, and educational holiday activity, English Playdate was specially created for the children of UNU Jogja’s academic community. The program invited kids to learn English through play, featuring a variety of interactive and creative activities that kept them excited and fully engaged throughout the event.
Activities such as educational board games, English word-guessing games, movie time, and sing-and-dance sessions made the event lively and joyful. One of the children’s favorite moments was meeting “Joko the Owl,” a friendly mascot who accompanied them in their learning adventure.
Ulul Azmi, a lecturer at the English Education Study Program and parent of participant Nazea Zaada Nazneen, shared his delight seeing his child’s enthusiasm.
“My daughter was so happy to join this event. She enjoyed playing with her friends and loved meeting Joko the Owl,” he said.
The event was officially opened by CELTIS Director Erwan Cerentio and attended by Acting Rector Suhadi and Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Competitiveness, Prof. Nafiatul Umami. In his remarks, Erwan expressed hope that the activity would offer children a meaningful and positive way to spend their holiday.

All activities were free of charge, with participants also receiving lunch and the chance to build new friendships in a supportive and cheerful environment.
Following the success of its first edition, CELTIS and PBI UNU Jogja hope that English Playdate will become a regular event to help children grow into more confident, creative, and English-proficient young learners. [Latifah]
