UNU Jogja Library Holds User Education and Book Review Talk Show for New Students

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The UNU Jogja Library hosted a User Education session and a Book Review Talk Show for the new class of 2025 students at the Main Hall of UNU Jogja on Wednesday, October 29. The event was organized in collaboration with Deepublish Publisher and was further enlivened by a book bazaar in the Pre-Function area.
The Head of the UNU Jogja Library, Abdulloh Badruzzaman, S.T., M.T., explained that this activity is a strategic step in enhancing the information literacy of new students. “This User Education is to equip patrons to be able to recognize, understand, and utilize library services and information resources independently and effectively,” he stated.
The event was also attended by the General Manager of Deepublish Publisher, Gilang Mukti Prabowo, S.E., M.M., who expressed his appreciation for the spirit of collaboration at UNU Jogja. “Thank you for the collaboration in organizing this event. A campus like UNU Jogja is like a mall—lively, active, and full of activities,” he remarked.
Yusuf Efendi, a representative from IKAPI DIY (Indonesian Publishers Association of Yogyakarta), was also present and expressed support for the synergy between the publishing world and higher education institutions. Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector of UNU Jogja, Dr. Abdul Ghofar, M.B.A., emphasized the importance of strengthening the culture of literacy among students as the foundation for intellectual and moral development in his address.
The event became even more vibrant with a book bazaar offering various attractive promotions and door prizes, including e-wallet balances, smartwatches, and even a mobile phone. A performance from the UNU Jogja Music Student Activity Unit (UKM) also added to the festive atmosphere.
During the talk show session, Bagas Ihsanul Umam, the author of the book “Dua Rakaat Dulu Aja: Panduan Menggapai Cinta Allah di Sepertiga Malam Terakhir” (Just Two Rak'ahs First: A Guide to Achieving God's Love in the Last Third of the Night), shared inspiration about the importance of managing spirituality and closeness to God amidst the challenges of modern life.
The activity was attended by 520 new students and members of the public. On this occasion, the library also opened open recruitment for "Library Friends" (Sahabat Perpustakaan) to invite students to play an active role in the management and development of campus literacy movements.
